Discover Science Weekend Nov 2013

COSEE OLC participated at the Seattle Aquarium's Discover Science Weekend by helping to recruit scientists and graduate students to host marine related activity tables.
 

Lightning Talks II Nov 2013

COSEE OLC and Seattle Aquarium hosted an evening program with 11 ocean and marine scientists giving 5 minute Lightning formated talks. The talks were followed by and informal Q & A networking reception.

High school students who participated in the My Place in Puget Sound curriculum, developed posters related to current issues in Puget Sound. The event occurred at the UW in November 2012.

Broader Impacts Workshop 2011

Connecting Scientists, Educators and Citizens

COSEE OLC and Washington Sea Grant hosted an evening program focused on connecting organizations that engage with the public about the marine environment with ocean/marine scientists to inform them of broader impacts and public engagement opportunities. Lisa Graumlich, UW Dean of the College of The Environment was keynote speaker for the February 2011 event.
 

Boat Based Educators Workshop I, Feb 2011

COSEE OLC co-hosted a workshop with Washington Sea Grant, Ocean Inquiry Project and SoundCitizen in February 2011. The workshop focused on ways to engage scientists and boat based education programs.

COSEE OLC assisted with the regional High School Ocean Science Competition - Orca Bowl and hosted the Awards Banquet at the Seattle Aquarium from 2006- 2014.
 

Sound Conversations 2010

COSEE OLC helped to sponsor the Seattle Aquarium’s Sound Conversations lecture series for several years. The series is designed to engage and inform a general public audience about current ocean sciences related to the health of the world’s oceans and marine life. The series format is interactive and brings the audience into direct conversation with the speaker about their work, careers and interests. Dr. Rick Keil, COSEE OLC PI, Fritz Stahr, COSEE OLC PI and Ginger Armbrust UW director of Oceanography were some of the featured speakers.
