I'm an oceanographer trained by Russ McDuff of the UW School of Oceanography. I started Beam Reach Marine Science and Sustainability School ( http://beamreach.org ) in 2004 to offer a boat-based marine science program to under/graduates interested in the environmental issues of the Pacific Northwest. Now I study endangered marine species like killer whales and salmon with my students and staff, primarily with bioacoustic technologies. One of my favorite activities is going to the Seattle Aquarium or listening to http://orcasound.net with my 2- and 5-year-olds, along with my wife Annie.
