Addressing Broader Impact Requirements

On January 6th COSEE-Ocean Learning Communities and Washington Sea Grant hosted an all day workshop titled, Addressing Broader Impact Requirements for Research Proposals. The workshop was a great success with over 150 participants including University and College scientists, faculty, educators, graduate students, marine educators and other invited guests. Session topics included: How to use what you and your lab group already do to meet broader impact requirements; How to leverage yourself, your lab group and your research into existing outreach opportunities; How citizen science can be used for scientific gain and for your education and outreach requirements; Expert advise on how to communicate your science to the media, decision makers, lay audiences and K-12 audiences; and Strategies for promoting more diverse participation in the sciences.
